The Raccoon Valley Radio area saw mixed reports for the unemployment rate last month in the three counties.

According to Iowa Workforce Development Greene County had a 0.8 percent drop in unemployment from July to August, from 3.4 to 2.6 percent, respectively. Dallas and Guthrie Counties each had a 0.1 percent unemployment rate increase from July to August to 3.4 for Dallas and 2.9 percent for Guthrie County.

Despite the changes, all three counties were either the same or better in August of 2023. Iowa Workforce Development reports Dallas and Greene Counties were each 2.5 percent unemployment in August of 2023 and Guthrie County was the same at 2.9 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate saw a 0.1 percent increase from July to August, after being steady for the three prior months, finishing with a 2.9 percent in August. The national unemployment rate for August was 4.2 percent.
