There will be satellite voting stations accessible in Dallas County, with one within the City of Perry.

The McCreary Community Building, 1800 Pattee Street, in Perry will be home to a satellite station for voters to cast absentee ballots. Dallas County Senior Election Clerk Danielle King tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the state of Iowa doesn’t have early voting, but rather in-person absentee voting since those aren’t counted until election day. She walks through the process behind the satellite stations.

“We would have the forms that you would fill out, which is the absentee ballot request form. We would provide you the ballot, you would vote it in a booth, you would seal it in an envelope and put it in a locked box where it would be brought back to our office and be put in our locked room. And then it would be opened by our absentee team and counted on election day.”

The McCreary Community Building will be open for satellite voting on October 18th from noon to 6pm. King emphasizes that people can also drop off mailed ballots at the Dallas County Auditor’s Office, 210 N. 10th Street, in Adel during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm, beginning October 16th.

The office will also be available on a couple of Saturdays, including October 26th from 8am to 4:30pm and November 2nd from 8am to 5pm. For more information, contact the Dallas County Auditor’s Office at (515)-993-6914 or visit www.dallascountyiowa.gov.
