Last week the weather was warmer than what some thought it would be, but over the weekend temperatures drastically changed.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Marvin Percha says that the new cooler temperatures should continue throughout the week. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what brought on the change.

“Well, it’s a rather robust cold front as, of course, we’re going into the fall season. The polar jet (stream) is starting to migrate back south. We’re starting to get more colder air from Canada, and basically what happens is that we had a rather strong cold front that moved across Iowa late Saturday into Sunday, and behind it was the first push of cool Canadian fall type air.”

Percha mentions that things may warm slightly starting on Thursday and going into the weekend, but only in the lower to mid-70’s.
