The Guthrie Center School Board met in regular session Wednesday night.

Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that the Board had a good meeting. He mentions that in his report, he discussed the HVAC project at the high school nearing completion, however, he tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it looks like there will be more HVAC projects in the future.

“One of the next steps is to help get air conditioning replaced in our classroom areas at the high school. So that was discussed, and I think we’re going to kind of move forward with looking at cost and what it will take to do those things there at the high school, and as well as the junior high. Looking at replacing a couple of those heat pumps that have been there for over 25 plus years. So, they’re getting to their end of life as well, so trying to come up with a plan there.”

Rasmussen explains that the Board approved new fuel tanks from New Century FS, the FFA Chapter’s trip to the 2024 National Convention, 2024-25 sports sharing agreements with Carroll and Panorama, and the disposal of a kitchen kettle/steamer. He adds that they also approved of the School Budget Review Committee modified allowable growth for the special education deficit, the first reading of the 500 series Board policy review, the first change order for the high school HVAC project, and pay applications four and five for high school HVAC Projects one and two.
