The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be on the lookout for spam calls.

Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they’re seeing reports that people are being contacted in regards to missing a court date, and that they need to pay money. He stresses to the public that the sheriff’s office will never call to solicit for money.

“If you have a warrant, or you missed court, or something like that, we’re going to tell you about it. It’ll be face to face. With the clerk of court, if you ever pay anything, we’re not in the money business. Any time law enforcement asks you for money, or tells them you should owe them money, it should be a huge red flag.”

Infante mentions that many of the scams are from people overseas that use third party applications that are hard to track down. However, he encourages people to either call their office at (515)-993-4567 or send them an email at dcsheriff@dallascountyiowa.gov with any indications that you may fall victim to a scam.
