The city of Grand Junction is under a boil order until further notice.

Jan Sharp with the Grand Junction Municipal Utilities tells Raccoon Valley Radio there was an accidental disconnect of the city’s water supply on Monday which resulted in a precautionary boil order. She says everyone within city limits is to boil tap water for one minute before consuming or using for other purposes. Sharp notes that bottled water or boiled water can be used for drinking, preparing food, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes safely.

Sharp add as water samples are being tested for possible contaminants, the boil order may be in effect until noon tomorrow. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
