The Greene County Historical Society is hosting a cemetery walk this Sunday.
According to the Historical Society, the Executive Co-Director Dianne Piepel will begin the program at the Historical Museum at 2pm on Sunday. She will talk about the brief history of the city cemetery, including the land the cemetery is on, which was donated by Mahlon Head, who served several times as mayor and was a local banker.
Then, the walk takes place at the cemetery, where attendees can either walk or drive there. Piepel will point out several unique gravestones and other notable people that are laid to rest there.
Sunday’s program is free and open to the public. The rain date is September 29th.
