The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn football team had a chance for the win, but fell in overtime to Lewis Central 30-27.

The Tigers were on the road for the first time in 2024, trying to avenge the loss to the Titans, who ended their season last year. ADM started strong on the first drive as Quarterback Hudson Shull threw a laser to Wide Receiver Corbin Reed for a 66-yard opening touchdown to lead 7-0. Lewis Central would respond by scoring 17 unanswered points with a 22-yard field goal by Jimmy Scott, then a 40-yard touchdown pass from Titan QB Brady Hetzel to Wide Receiver Leonardo Tatum, then a 6-yard rush from Running Back Brody Patlan to take a 17-7 advantage.

However, the Tigers would not go away quietly as a huge momentum shift came when Carver Sutton forced a fumble on Hetzel to give ADM great field position. The Tigers would have Shull run in for a seven yard touchdown to bring them closer, trailing 17-14. ADM Kicker Ethan Asche made a 36-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to tie the game at 17.

No scoring was done in the third quarter, but in the fourth Shull busted out for a 38-yard score to put the Tigers up 24-17 with about seven minutes left in the game. Lewis Central took three minutes off the clock as Hetzel capped off a 50-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown to be knotted up at 24. ADM used a four-minute drive to take it down the field to set up Asche for a 30-yard field goal attempt with two seconds remaining. Asche’s kick sailed a little too far to the left, which would’ve gave the Tigers the win.

The game went into overtime and ADM had first possession. A couple of runs landed the Tigers at the seven yard line and Asche made a 24-yarder to lead 27-24. However, it was a seven yard run from Chance Chappell that walked it off for the Titans, 30-27.

In the loss, Shull had eight completions for 137 yards. He also added about 150 yards on the ground. Lewis Central’s Hetzel threw 10 completions for 136 total yards, and it was Patlan’s 136 rushing yards that helped the Titans secure the victory.

ADM now sits at 2-1 on the season and will travel to Norwalk High School this coming Friday. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF.
