The Jefferson Public Works Department has finished major street repairs in a portion of town.

City Administrator Scott Peterson says all of the Public Works Department crews spent most of the summer replacing concrete on Rushridge Road that had been exposed over the years and the street had been deteriorating. He points out a piece of equipment was purchased so that city crews handle the project to lay new concrete after removing the old material from the street.

“A screed that can be used for pouring concrete and doing these full width pours of streets. They used that and it has worked like a dream. And they were able to really do some really exemplary work out there.”

Peterson notes that the city saved thousands of dollars handling this project in-house and appreciates the leadership of Public Works Director Dave Morlan and Street Superintendent Dave Teeples, along with all of the crews that helped.

“(I) encourage everybody to swing on out there and take a look at our crews handiwork because they did a fine job, and very, very happy with that, and I know the neighbors are happy in that area.”

Peterson adds that the decision was made to stop after a certain point and they may look at a future year to replace more of the street in that area.
