With the marching band season getting into the swing of things, many schools have begun performing.
Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Band Director Kyra Babcock says that the band has four pieces to perform, with one being for parades and the other three for when they perform on the field for football games. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio how they decided on which songs they wanted to use for this season.
“So they performed these pieces. They were excited to play them, they wanted to play them, and they’re crowd entertaining. So it was more about entertainment and fun.”
Babcock mentions that all three of the pieces for field performances also include routines from the color guard. She adds that the color guard does a rifle performance with “Apache,” and a baton performance with “Funky Town,” while there’s a choreographed segment for “Shut Up and Dance.”
