Dallas County Attorney Jeannine Ritchie provides an update revolving around the Perry High School tragedy that occurred January 4th.

Recently, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) gave a document to Ritchie pertaining to the details of the shooting. She previously shared that the DCI report would not be made public as it is an investigative record by law enforcement. However, on Thursday, Ritchie put out another statement.

“Over the past several days, I have received inquiries regarding the DCI’s report regarding the shooting at Perry High School on January 4, 2024. As the Dallas County Attorney, my responsibility is to thoroughly review and analyze information compiled by law enforcement in order to determine whether criminal charges are appropriate and prosecutable. The DCI conducted its investigation over the course of approximately nine months. At this time, the entire report is being reviewed and analyzed. Once a decision is made as to whether any charges are appropriate, a statement with a summary of the report will be released.”

The unfortunate events from January 4th left three people dead, including the shooter, a sixth grader and High School Principal Dan Marburger, along with several other individuals that were injured. Raccoon Valley Radio will continue to bring you more information as it becomes official.
