The Perry Historical Society will continue to collect donations for 2024.

According to co-organizer Larry Vodenik, the historical society invites people to drop off older items they’re thinking of disposing of. He explains that the organization is looking for storage space to operate from and encourages anyone within Perry to contact him at (515)-490-7712. Vodenik describes common items that people can donate.

“Old newspapers, old pictures. One of the things that I found out that are worth the gold mine to me are old phone books. Now those phone numbers mean nothing, but the advertisements in there.”

Vodenik highlights that other older items that are no longer useful for people can be delivered to either HyVee in Perry or the Carnegie Library Museum. He implores people to write their names on the envelope or box that are left at the respective places.
