The AC/GC Chargers competed at the Dallas Center-Grimes meet on Tuesday, and Head Coach Rick Blake says that he’s glad the team got to face off against some larger teams for some tough competition.

The boys team finished 6th out of 12 teams, with Gavin Sloss leading the way for the team with a 14th place finish in 17:50.1. Preston Kent was the other top 20 finish, coming in 19th with a time of 18:02.5. Noah Kading (19:16.2), Tate Fever (19:24.3), Jonny Kading (19:39.3) and Jameson Pfrang (22:16.4) were the other four scoring athletes for the team, with the team scoring 175 points.

The girls team finished 8th out of 12 teams, and Ava Campbell was the leader for them, taking 12th place in 21:08.2. Jayla Hoover was the next athlete up in 37th place, with a time of 22:58.7. Adalyn Benson (23:27.4), Paige Van Meter (24:35.3), Brookly Schafer (25:06.4) and Lillie Lauzon (25:22.6) were the four other scoring athletes for the Chargers during the race, with the team scoring 204 points. The next contest for the cross country teams will be next Thursday as they travel to Ames to compete on the Iowa State University course.
