The Guthrie County Fair ended earlier this week, and a new Guthrie County Fair Queen will reign over next year’s fair.

Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Senior Shyann Young was the individual at the end of the ceremony who was crowned by the current Guthrie County Fair Queen Riley Gibson. Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Rachel Blum tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Young is someone that other 4-H youths can admire.

“She honestly would be such a great role model for our Guthrie County youth to look up to, and I’m glad that she was named our (Guthrie County) Fair Queen.”

Young is a member of the Grant Sky Eagles, and participates in jazz band, marching band, pep band, choir, track and field, the AC/GC student council, school musicals, individual and group speech events and is part of the art club.
