Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Cross Country Head Coach Josh Chapman acknowledges the competitive nature of the Raccoon River Conference.

Chapman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he believes that the RRC is the toughest conference in Class 3A within the state of Iowa. He supports his claim pointing out that Gilbert is the reigning state champion in Class 3A in 2023, with Winterset, Carlisle, and ADM that all have advanced to the state meet over the last few years and performed well. Chapman emphasizes that great team races can still result outside the top three places.

“You can perform really well at our conference meet and still finish fourth or fifth. It’s a really deep conference, a lot of young really talented runners, so it’s always fun to compete at the conference meet, and it’s always a challenge. If you win it, you’re going to be one of the top five teams in the state, for sure.”

The Tigers finished the opening meet in third at Johnston High School with 95 points scored and look to build off that performance this Saturday on the campus of Central College in Pella at 9:40am.
