The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library is ready for patrons to come in and have some fun during September.

Librarian Karen Kelly says that they have a couple of really fun events next week, with one on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday, September 11th. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Tuesday night they will be holding an event using their telescope for International Library Telescope Observing Week.

“Apparently this is a great week for observation, and so the first two hours after sunset, we should be able to see craters on the moon, the Galilean moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. So we’re looking forward to having people come and just try out our new telescope.”

Kelly mentions that they will be holding the observation period from 7:30-9pm, and that if skies aren’t clear the event will be moved to September 14th. She adds that the program on September 11th will begin at 2pm, and will be a presentation by author Linda McCann on her book “Rosie the Riveters of Iowa.”
