The National Alzheimer’s Association is inviting residents of the Raccoon River Valley area to take part in their event on September 21st in a Guthrie County community.

According to a press release from the organization, the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will start at Michael Mills Park in Panora, with registration beginning at 8:30am, with opening ceremonies to follow, and then the walk starts at 9:30am. The release continues to say that this event is a way for those affected by the common dementia related disease, by putting together a Promise Garden Ceremony. Flowers in the Garden will be purple, yellow, blue and orange, with each color representing a different reason that someone may have joined the walk.

There is no registration fee for participants, but individuals can raise funds should they wish to help the Alzheimer’s Association provide care and support for those that need it. As of September 3rd, the Raccoon River Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s has 27 participants on 19 teams, and has raised $6,455 of their $41,000 goal.
