Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Alex Dinkla points out an alarming statistic that he’s witnessed this year.

Dinkla tells Raccoon Valley Radio that a common violation he’s stopped people for in 2024 in driving what he terms an “egregious speed.” He is finding that people are driving at speeds exceeding 125 mph and comments that a lot of law enforcement officers aren’t even reaching that mark. Dinkla reveals the rate of speed drivers are going.

“130, 140, 150 miles per hour out here, and we can’t talk to the public enough. Those are dangerous situations that people are putting other people’s lives at risk.”

Dinkla notes that these outrageous speeds are posted on the Iowa State Patrol’s Facebook page to warn everyone to slow down. He encourages people to give themselves enough time to travel to their destination safely.
