The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Cross Country Coach Josh Chapman details the strategy of choosing the meets to run in this season.
Cross Country differs from other sports in terms of determining an array of meets to compete in. Chapman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that every year he likes to choose one new meet for the boys to run in, but admits that this year the Tigers were forced into dropping the home meet, prompting him to look elsewhere.
Chapman reveals that the original plan for Homecoming week in early October was to come to Perry, but alternated to traveling to Williamsburg on October 1st as Homecoming for ADM is the following day.
“Part of that is that it’s a way for us to drive to compete, but we want to see those Eastern Iowa ranked teams that we don’t normally get to see.”
Chapman talks about the other new meets the Tigers will have in 2024.
“We’re also heading to Newton this year, and then we’re going back to Minnesota for the Roy Griak Meet, which is always a fun regional meet to go and take the varsity guys up there and see how we do against the regional teams.”
ADM is coming off a third-place finish at Johnston High School this past Saturday. Their next competition is this coming Saturday in Pella at Central College.
