The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship released its report on Crop Progress and Conditions.
It was reported that with the mainly dry weather between August 19th and 25th, farmers were to be able to spend an average of 6.4 days in the field, which helped with cutting and baling hay. Topsoil moisture conditions were rated at three percent very short, 23 percent short, 72 percent adequate and two percent surplus. Subsoil conditions were reported at three percent very short, 20 percent short, 75 percent adequate and two percent surplus. Corn is six days behind where it was last year, but one day ahead of the five year average. Soybeans are nine days behind last year and three days behind the five year average.
