A yearly event in the state of Iowa is visiting the City of Perry for Labor Day on Monday.

The RVTV Tailgate Kickoff is a yearly celebration that takes place beginning on the Monday prior to the Iowa-Iowa State football game. Perry has been chosen to lead the festivities off, starting on Labor Day. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti encourages people to stop out at 11am as the RV, along with other vehicles, will be driving down Willis Avenue to ignite excitement. Pasutti mentions that there’s been a bunch of planning behind the scenes.

“It’s really fun, there’s so much that has gone into this, so many different people, different ideas, so then to see it all come together, I’m really excited to see what it looks like, and bring the community together for this activity.”

Pasutti highlights that the bulk of the entertainment is set to happen between 3-10pm. She hints that a specific company is arranging a cool feature.

“One of the sponsors overall of RVTV, U.S. Cellular will be bringing in their photo experience, so you walk in and it makes it a really cool photo, so not too many details on that but just excited that they’re coming to Perry.”

There will be plenty of food vendors, a beer garden, kids activities, live music from Rukkus and the Al Welsch Orchestra, the Perry High School Pep Rally, a car & tractor show, and the Perry Fire Association is hosting a car smashing competition. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Lil Big Red Radio will be in attendance from 3-7pm. For a full rundown of events, click here.
