Coach Makayla Spaar’s Paton-Churdan varsity volleyball team hosted Storm Lake St. Mary’s in Churdan on Thursday night with P-C winning in four sets. Scores were 25-21, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13, and the Rockets broke an 18 match losing streak dating back to the 2022 season. St. Mary’s continues their long losing streak after going 0-16 last season.

Coach Spaar told Raccoon Valley Radio the girls really worked together as a team with a lot of communication and hustle. “They kept their focus the whole time, but also had fun with it. They are proud that they start the season with a win.”

Junior Mia Russell had 12 kills and nine digs while Maggie Reed , a sophomore, also had nine digs. Grace Cullum, the only senior on the team, had a pair of ace serves.
