After demolition of 305 3rd St in Rippey

A non-profit organization recently announced additional funding to assist in its second phase of residential property improvements.

John Rigler III with the Highway 144 Corridor Housing Initiative says six applications were awarded $40,000 for grants to help demolish deliabated homes. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the $40,000 was about 75 percent of the total cost of the six projects, with the property owners providing the other 25 percent. Rigler notes that there were nine total applications requesting $92,360 this year, and of the six that were awarded, four were in Grand Junction, one in Dana and one in Rippey.

On behalf of the 144 CHI Board, Rigler thanks all of the donors, including Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation that gave the $40,000 for their inaugural second phase of funding for demolition of homes. He says the Board is looking forward to continuing to help property owners remove existing homes and make exterior home improvements to upgrade the look of the overall neighborhood.
