A project in the City of Adel is now done, thanks to a large donation from a non-profit organization.

The Adel Parks & Recreation announces that the finishing touches have been put on the Kinnick-Feller Park Playground Refresh project. A big contributor to helping the activity was a $7,500 donation from the Adel Kiwanis Club on several upgrades. President of the Kiwanis Club Scott Hall illustrates that the City of Adel contacted them because the Kiwanis Club invested in the original equipment that was seeking to be replaced.

“The city actually brought some pictures to us of our members, I think 20 years ago or so, actually helping install the equipment that they were replacing. We raised 25 to 30 thousand (dollars) a year, or right in that range, but we just try to reinvest all that money into programs in the community that help kids, and so whenever we ever we get approached about playground equipment, that’s a no brainer, it’s just right up our alley.”

Hall stresses that the Kiwanis Club’s mission is to assist children within the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District in any way possible. Adel Parks & Rec highlights that the playground refresh includes a three bay swing set, a logroll, a maypole, a saddle seat, and a surfer seat.
