east-lincoln-way-update

A road project in Jefferson is seeing the final phase happening this week.

According to the city, the contractor, InRoads, is having crews do the milling and asphalt overlay of East Lincoln Way from Locust Street east to the city cemetery. Motorists are reminded that it will be one lane traffic until the resurfacing part is finished. City Administrator Scott Peterson says one of the longest portions of this project dealt with pouring new concrete on the north side of the East Lincoln Way from about the Milwaukee Depot to the cemetery, which was intentionally left just short of the height of the existing roadway before the asphalt is overlaid.

“Noting that we have this nice new concrete out there, but that will all be overlaid with asphalt. So really what that concrete’s doing is providing the base underneath it, so we have a great road out there (and) it’s very, very stable for decades to come.”

Peterson adds this is the final phase of the beautification project for East Lincoln Way and the resurfacing of the road was needed to provide stability for the businesses and the lifespan of the road needed to be addressed. City staff anticipate the project to be completed by the end of this week.
