The Stuart People Active for Library Service are preparing for their next event.

On August 24th at 10am, Author Carrie Landgraf will be at the Stuart Public Library to sign her book, “The Stuart Spoon.” PALS Member Carol Brewer says that the book comes from events in Landgraf’s life, mentioning that when her grandmother passed away, she was given her decorative spoon collection. Brewer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the inspiration for the story began much later though.

“It wasn’t until 25 years later that she really dug out the spoons to look at them, and as she was cleaning them, she found out that one of them said Stuart, Iowa.”

Brewer mentions that there was an engraving on the back of the spoon, and Landgraf decided to travel to Stuart to find out what it meant. Landgraf learned a great deal of history about the town, and includes it in her book. She will be signing her book, and will have some available for purchase.
