Today is the first day of full contact for the Greene County High School football team, as well as for the rest of the state of Iowa. Head coach Caden Duncan and his coaching staff had a sneak peak at what the Rams look like in pads when they took part in the Buena Vista University (Storm Lake) scrimmage held on Aug. 2 at Dallas Center-Grimes High School.
The Rams have a number of positions open after significant graduation losses, as well as some players that were injured last season not playing in 2024. That being said, the coach thinks a healthy Greene County team can be highly competitive, but with only around 40 boys out in grades nine through 12, there’s not a lot in the way of varsity depth.
The Rams scrimmage on Aug. 23 at Ogden, then open the non-district portion of the schedule on Friday, Aug. 30 in Jefferson at Linduska Field vs. the Carroll High Tigers at 7 p.m. All Greene County varsity football games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
