The Perry School Board met in regular session on Monday.
The meeting began with Perry Middle School Principal Ned Menke explaining the recent Teacher Leadership Conference that was held in Las Vegas, Nevada and how beneficial it is for new teachers to the district. Also, two therapy dogs of Kona and Shimmer were brought in to demonstrate that they will be serving as Perry’s therapy dogs for the upcoming school year. Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks highlighted that Capstone Search Group Founder Scott Dickerson was nice enough to buy school supplies for teachers at Perry Elementary on August 3rd.
Items on the agenda that were approved at Monday’s meeting included a resolution supporting the proposed issuance of approximately $17,00,000 in school infrastructure sales, services, and use of tax revenue bonds, a cooperative sharing agreement with Panorama for Perry’s High School Girls Swimming team, and an amendment to the instructional and activity fee schedule for 2024-2025.
Additional items approved during the meeting pertained to several revisions of board policies by Board Director Joe Tuhn, an amended school calendar schedule for 2024-2025, revisions of a voluntary early retirement policy to make changes in September, a food service agreement with the Perry Child Development Center, and openings for a special education and math position at Perry Middle School. Wicks concluded that Dr. Mandy Ross is serving as the district’s recovery coordinator.
