A senior on the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Cross Country team is really ecstatic for her final season as a Tiger.

Evelyn Horgen is looking to be a key contributor to ADM this year as she tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she began running in seventh grade because her mom wanted her to do a sport and she decided on cross country falling in love with it soon after. Horgen is hoping she can become one of the top runners for the Tigers this year.

“As the years have gone on, the team has gotten a lot more competitive and we have a lot more talented girls. So, I’d like to move myself up more in the ranks and be able to run on varsity or at least score top on JV.”

Horgen says that summer training has been going great as she’s been trying to push herself on practice runs. She reveals that her favorite course to run on has a personal meaning.

“I love to run on the Perry course. I almost PR (personal record) almost every single time. I think it’s a nice mix between hills to get competitive on and flat parts to recover. It’s also where my parents work, so they’ll always there to cheer me on.”

Horgen believes in ADM’s team as she points to many girls being injured last year and how much potential is on the table. The first meet for the Tigers will be on August 31st at Johnston High School.
