The Perry football team is gearing up for their opener on Thursday, August 29. The offensive line is left with multiple openings thanks to graduation. One spot that won’t require a new man is center. Zach Shelley returns to snap the ball to Geren Kenney. Coach Vannornam is thrilled with having him back. “He’s the heart of our offensive line right now.” He expects the rest of the spots to be battled for over the next few weeks. “We’re going to have some younger guys I would say you know surrounding him in the guard and tackle spots but there’s some bigger body than us he showed up to practice this past week so there’s some younger bodies in there. This year is going to be a who can step up right so yes your sophomore but you know just because your sophomore doesn’t mean you catch up I mean you get that Varsity spot.”
The Bluejays will play their first game on August 29 against Des Moines Hoover. The Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will continue to preview Perry football positional groups leading up to the start of the season.
