The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate vehicle crashes this past Thursday August 8th, with each resulting in injuries.
The first incident happened at 11:14am on Jordan Avenue near 237th Street. According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy, Jefferson Fire Department and Greene County Ambulance went to the single vehicle crash, where 18 year old Simon Jordan of West Des Moines lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and struck a tree. The crash report shows the vehicle was a total loss and Jordan and a passenger were taken to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance with injuries.
Jordan was also cited for careless driving, failure to maintain control, failure to file SR-22, operating without liability insurance accident related, and driving while license suspended.
The second incident was at 4:22pm on N Avenue and 290th Street. The sheriff’s office report shows 29 year old Brandi Burrow of Jefferson was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer heading east on 290th Street. She failed to stop at the posted stop sign and struck a northbound 2014 Nissan Pathfinder that was driven by 71 year old Bonnie Simpson of Sac City. Simpson and a passenger were transported to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance with minor injuries and Burrow and a passenger were taken to Dallas County Hospital by Greene County Ambulance with injuries.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Pathfinder sustained $15,000 of damage and the Trailblazer had $5,000 of damage. The incident remains under investigation at this time. Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jefferson Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance and Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene.
