At 10am the Grand Junction Horizons Club will serve breakfast at the community center with an eggless casserole, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, and a beverage for $5, followed by the parade at 11am.
Co-Organizer Linda Hoffman says it is free to enter the parade that will start at 15th and Bennett Streets. Contact Andy Kreiger to register at 515-391-1762. Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Lil’ Big Red Radio will be in the parade. Food vendors, face painting and the Grand Junction Lions Club Car Show all start at 11am. Then at noon the carnival opens, along with other vendors, with an ice cream social at the First Presbyterian Church with bingo is from 1-3pm.
At 3pm begins the yard games and bags tournament that Hoffman says is a $40 registration fee for a team of two and interested individuals can contact Amber and Jeremy Richards at 515-238-0521 or 515-460-8853 to sign up. Also at 3pm is musical entertainment with musician Brian Congdon. The Greene County Pork Producers will serve a meal starting at 5pm, followed by the two final musical acts including Ted Stockton from 7-8:30pm and Casey Muessingmann from 9-11pm. Hoffman invites everyone to enjoy everything Summerfest has to offer.
“Another thing I’d like to note is that this is Grand Junction’s 155th. We’re hoping to have a lot of people show up and help us celebrate not only the town but the fun festivities that we have.”
