Jefferson Police DeptThe Jefferson Police Department released its figures from the latest Special Traffic Enforcement Program.

Captain Mark Clouse says from July 1st through July 7th, they issued ten citations and 51 warnings.  Last year during the 4th of July holiday, officers issued eight citations and 95 warnings.

There were two citations given for suspended or revoked driver’s license and two were issued for vehicle equipment violations.  There were ten warnings given for equipment violations and eight for no proof of insurance and seven for not wearing a seat belt.

Clouse states that there was one canine search conducted and one arrest warrant severed during that same period.

Six patrol officers were working during the sTEP wave.

The next sTEP program will be from August 25th through September 7th.
