Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach held a Static Events Day in July so that 4-H and FFA members and Clover Kids might have the opportunity to take them to the Iowa State Fair.

Extension Summer Assistant Tucker Carroll says that since the Guthrie County Fair comes after the State Fair, they hold the Static Events Day in July to make sure Guthrie County youth don’t get left out. Clover Kids member Hadley Knobbe tells Raccoon Valley Radio why she chose some of her static events, including one about bubbles.

“I like bubbles, and it’s just fun to do that. And I like to make posters, and I like doing art stuff.”

4-H member Jaxen Knobbe mentions that he had a few static entries, including a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) entry, and a book about fish.

“I just like to research all the different kinds of fish, because I really like fishing.”

4-H member Zoey Kepple made a clay snake figurine and also made a painting and a 4-H poster. She shares what she enjoyed about her projects.

“My favorite part was, most of i, (was) just doing art and stuff, like using my own creativity and a lot of colorful ideas.”

Jaxen’s 4-H Poster and STEM entry are two of the 30 entries that will be on display at the Iowa State Fair.
