The Greene County Medical Center is offering a convenient way for women to get health screenings.

Family Medicine Clinic Certified Physician Assistant Kaitlyn Bravek is having Walk-In Women’s Health Screenings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from August 12th through September 13th from 2-4pm on a first come, first served basis. Bravek says the American Academy of Family Physicians study in 2023 found that 45 percent of women missed one or more preventive services in a one-year span. One-quarter of those that responded to the study said it was due to scheduling difficulties.

Bravek wants to make it easier for women to get these services because they are at higher risk for developing health issues such as breast or cervical cancer and heart disease.

The Walk-In Women’s Health Screenings include pap smears, pelvic and breast exams, as well as determining the need for a mammogram, bone density and other tests. Women can also have a medication review, including birth control options, and screenings for cardiovascular issues, diabetes, sexually transmitted infections, among others. These Walk-Ins do not require a scheduled appointment, as they will be done on a first come, first served basis. Contact the Family Medicine Clinic for information at 515-386-0500.
