Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante is finding drunk driving a common issue, and he advises against it.
Infante tells Raccoon Valley Radio that during the summer months, the sheriff’s office is discovering more drivers impaired. He explains that drunk driving is one of the top offenses that gets sent to their daily report. Infante stresses that even if a person may feel like they are in a good condition to drive, not to risk it, and rely on a trusted driver.
“Please utilize family, friends, whatever for that ride home and try to not to drink that a level of intoxication that’s going to get you in trouble.”
Infante continues that the consequences are severe, plus sitting in a jail cell isn’t fun.
“It is a bed and breakfast, we will feed you and wake you up in the morning, get you on your way, but I would imagine you’d feel more comfortable in your own home. You don’t want to pay for an attorney to get you out of trouble, you don’t want to lose your drivers license for three or six months or a year depending on (blood alcohol content) level. All of those things are just easier if you don’t do them.”
Infante cautions a reminder to set plans prior to going out to avoid self harm or catastrophes to other people.
