As the saying goes, “A tradition unlike any other” could not be more fitting than an event that is happening for the final time in Greene County.

Nick Foster and Foster Family Farms are hosting the 25th and final Pleasant Prairie Threshing Bee today. The activities include hands-on demonstrations of threshing oats at 10am, followed by steam engine plowing shows in the afternoon. People can also do corn shelling throughout the day.

Nick tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he is 63-years-old and the physical demands to keep doing this labor-intensive event reached a point where he thought it was time for it to come to a close. He appreciates the supporters in the community, including those who financially continued to keep this program free to the public, and that he was never turned down by any of the sponsors.

Nick notes that the Pleasant Prairie Threshing Bee started as a dream with his friend who passed away several years ago, but he has enjoyed every moment of this event over the last 24 years. Foster Family Farms is located at 1176 M Avenue in Jefferson.
