The Guthrie Center Hospital recently shared the results from a study done by the Iowa Hospital Association.
GCH supported 431 local jobs in Guthrie County in 2023, adding $18.9 million to the County’s economy. According to the study, the number of jobs provided was 13.2 percent of jobs in the County, with the $18.9 million in wages accounting for 11.4 percent of all wages in the County. The hospital also had $36 million in total expenditures, accounting for 7.1 percent of Guthrie County’s gross domestic product, and brought in $527,800 in community benefits. The data used in the study is compiled from hospital submitted data turned in to the American Hospital Association AHA through their annual survey of hospitals. The AHA survey shows that Iowa hospitals employed 137,841 employees in 2023, provided over $9 billion in wages and accounted for over $21.3 billion of Iowa’s gross domestic product.
