The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Boards met on Wednesday.
Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says there were a few topics that the Boards discussed, but that an important one was legislative priorities the districts wanted the Iowa Association of School Boards to focus on in the 2025 legislative session. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what the chosen topics are for AC/GC.
“Just coming up with IASB Legislative Priorities for the year, and we chose school funding, teacher recruitment and licensure, sharing and reorganization, along with early childhood education. So those were the priorities that both Boards agreed upon and approved.”
Rasmussen mentions that the Boards chose school funding as a focal point because of the raises in teacher pay. He adds that teacher recruitment and licensure was chosen due to the fact that trying to find and hire teachers is an issue that many districts are facing. Reorganization and sharing was a topic for AC/GC because they are two school districts working together, and are also looking at what may be the best path for them moving forward, and early childhood education was see what options the districts might be able to pursue to improve programs they have, or what can be added.
