The Greene County School Board met Wednesday evening in regular session.
The Board approved a resolution to sell Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) loan notes to borrow about $5.1 million to use for the solar project and bidding to start July 18th. They also approved Piper Sandler as the dissemination agent and the financial service agent for the PPEL loan notes. The Board also approved the second readings of amended policies for student progress reports and conferences to semester from trimesters and graduation requirements with the main change of 48 credits due to switching to semesters.
Under new business, the Board approved an amount not to exceed $61,000 to purchase an automatic machine with Turf Tank to paint the field lines on athletic facilities, one school driving permit for Emmalee Baugh, one fundraiser request as presented, along with milk bids with Anderson Erickson and bread bids with Pan O Gold for the 2024-25 school year. Additionally, the Board approved the 2024-25 meal, activity and book fees, all student and employee handbooks, and the sports medicine contract with 21st Century Rehabilitation for $12,000 for the upcoming school year.
The Board also approved renewing the 28E agreement with New Opportunities with their Head Start program and the food service agreement for that program, first reading of a board policy of a procedure to issue a public bond, and a proposal from the DLR Group for $28,000 to do a facility assessment and design a master plan for capital improvements.
The Board heard about a virtual mental health program from licensed mental health therapist and counselor Kyle Kinne. He said the district is allowed six free sessions and then pay $3,000 per year as an annual fee to continue using their services for both the student and their parents. The meeting ended in a closed session.
