The Perry City Council met in regular session on Monday.

During the meeting, a representative from the Raccoon River Pet Rescue was in attendance looking for support from the council for the organization’s spay and neuter program in Perry. The pet rescue offers services for both domestic pets and trapped feral cats to assist in reducing the number of stray cats in the community. The program was approved by the council.

Other items on the agenda that were approved include pay applications for the Wastewater Treatment Facility in the amount of $216,701.41 to Woodruff Construction, 2024 Street Repairs for $197,351.47 to Des Moines Asphalt & Paving, the Willis Avenue Overlay project in the amount of $367,206.59 to Des Moines Asphalt & Paving, the Automated Weather Observing Systems to Kimrey Electric for $50,929.50, pay applications for the Runway 14/32 Relocation Phases two and three to Manatt’s Incorporated for a total amount of $142,008.34 between the two phases.

There were two change orders with one being for the 2024 Street Repairs for $7,611.11 to rebuild a falling structure at the intersection of 9th Street and Warford Street and another change order for the Willis Avenue Overlay for $6,073.74 to add an alternative full depth patch section and two erosion control items for the mobilizations with the recent rains in the state of Iowa.
