Nathan and Behne and Maddie McCarthy, recent Greene County High School graduates, are in Cedar Falls this week preparing for the 2024 Shrine Bowl on Saturday inside the UNI-Dome. Behne is a kicker for the South team while McCarthy is on the cheer squad.

In addition to football and cheer practices, there are some off the field activities for participants. Tuesday night was the Iowa Shrine Bowl Bowling extravaganza at Maple Lanes, and yesterday was Lost Island Water Park and Gateway Park picnic day. Tonight is a Hog Roast at the Reinbeck VFW and tomorrow is called Beyond the Field. It’s a Mini Kids’ Camp for Shriners’ Children and their parents/guardians.

Proceeds from the more than 50 Iowa Shrine Bowl football games go to helping children through Shrine Hospitals and Clinics.
