With the 2024 season over, AC/GC Chargers Head Softball Coach Eric Van Meter looks back on the team’s season.

Van Meter mentions that he’s proud of what the Chargers did this last season, as there was only one team he thought they didn’t play well against. The team ended the season with a 13-13 record on an 11-0 loss to the Van Meter Bulldogs. Van Meter tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the senior class for this year was a strong group that holds a special place in his heart, since his daughter is included among the five.

“They’ve just worked so hard the whole time, and did most everything right. Good leaders, good kids, good students. So you wish it could have ended just a little differently, but very few teams win their last game. They’ve done a lot for our program.”

Van Meter mentions that the program should have some strong players for the foundation of next year’s team, with some veteran juniors who will become seniors, and some sophomores who have some good varsity experience that will become juniors. He adds that while there were only two incoming freshmen this year, there should be more possible players in next year’s incoming freshman class.
