A senior from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team is being celebrated for her academic success.

Senior Cameran Smith was recently named to the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association (IGCA) to be a member of the All-Academic Softball Team for 2023-2024. According to the IGCA, the award recognizes student athletes who achieve two of the three criteria’s to post an ACT Composite Score of 27 or higher, a cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher, or top 15-20% of their school’s senior class.

On the softball field, Smith has played in 36 games for the Tigers scoring 25 runs on 37 hits and has 19 runners batted in (RBI’s). She also is a tremendous pitcher with a stellar 13-1 record with 65 innings pitched and 52 strikeouts.

Smith and ADM are preparing to play in the regional championship for Class 4A Region 4 tomorrow in Adel versus the Winterset Huskies. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm and Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting at 6:45pm.
