An accident on US Highway 30 in Greene County totals two vehicles.
Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 3:07pm on Thursday, 58 year-old Thomas Dean Luttrell of Boise, Idaho was traveling west on Highway 30 when he failed to stop at the stop light east of the Hardin Creek bridge repair area and struck his semi-tractor trailer into the back of a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 63 year-old Rhonda Elaine Hartstack of Stanton, Iowa.
Haupert notes that no one was injured, including Hartstack’s passenger, Gary Lee Hartstack in the accident and that both vehicles are a total loss.
He reminds everyone that while repairs are being made on the bridge just east of Jefferson on Highway 30 to be aware of the Iowa Department of Transportation’s traffic lights and obey the traffic signals and warning signs leading up to the bridge.
He also reminds the motoring public that fines can double in construction zones and be aware of the safety of all construction workers.
The Greene County Sheriff’s office, the Jefferson Fire and Police departments responded to the scene.
The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office with charges pending.
