Friday night the Greene County Rams traveled to Alleman to face Class 3A third ranked North Polk in a Substate first round baseball game. The home team needed less than four full innings to end Greene County’s season 15-0 by the 15 run rule. The game ended in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Comets scored three runs in the first, eight times in the second, three more in the third, and the fifteenth run scored in the fourth.

NP is 24-6 while the Rams end with a 2-20 record. The Rams had four baserunners, all via walks, and they were not able to get any hits. Junior Camden Jacobs walked twice with juniors Gavyn Winters and Noah Hinote walking once.

Hinote was the starting pitcher for the Rams and he went the first 1-2/3 innings before being relieved by junior Crew Conner. The Comets collected nine hits including a triple and a double, and five errors by the Rams also helped NP.

The Rams had no seniors on the team in 2024.
