A musical group will be making their way to Guthrie Center this weekend.

Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Teacher Jessica Fridley says that a group she is a part of, the Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps, will be in town on Sunday to hold their final run-through of the piece they’ll be performing at Ankeny later that night. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the district was kind enough to allow them to use the football field to perform.

“We are so excited about how much the community has been rallying around this, and it’s been all over Facebook, all over social media. So we’ll be doing our final run of our show, so it’s our whole production. You’ll see what our show looks like, the only thing is we will not be in costume, just because it’s hot.”

Fridley mentions that the group is similar to a professional sports team, but for color guard, drumline and brass instruments. The Govenaires will perform at 12:40pm, and the community is welcome to come and watch the performance for free.
