fireworksThose who watched Perry’s 4th of July fireworks last week may have noticed that this year’s display was a bit shorter than those of the past… which Chamber executive director Bob Wilson says comes down to funding.

“That was because we didn’t generate as much funds.  So next year I challenge everybody.  If you didn’t like the fireworks this year, step up in April and help us out.  These are community driven fireworks so the more money we raise, it’s all going there.  So if we raise $20,000, we’re putting it toward fireworks.  We’re not going to start those efforts, I think it’s a great program.  The fireworks were spectacular, I think they were great but I want them to be longer so that’s the charge” says Wilson.

Plus, if you have suggestions on how to make the 4th of July, or any events bigger or better than before, Wilson says let the Chamber know and you can brainstorm together.

We’ll have more with Wilson on our weekly Chamber Chat during today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
