Brad Wendt, the former Adair Police Chief, has been sentenced to a five year prison sentence.

According to sources, Wendt was indicted in 2022 on charges of having lied to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and was convicted of 11 of them. These charges include false statements and conspiracy. Sources share that with federal sentencing guidelines, it was recommended that Wendt was sentenced to a range of 78-97 months, with prosecution asking for 84 months, or seven years, and the defense asking for probation.

The judge instead delivered a 60 month sentence, and ordered that a $50,000 fine be paid by Wendt, as well as criticized the ATF for continuing to approve transfer requests by Wendt over three years, before ultimately deciding that those transfers were improper.
