Dylan Hoepker set the tone for the Panthers right from the first pitch of the game lining a double into left-center field for a double and came around to score on a 6-3 putout by Same Henry. The second run of the first inning was plated from a jam-shot RBI single over the head of third basemen Iben. Owen Myers got out of trouble again in the second but was relieved in the third after getting one out.
In the home half of that inning, Geren Kenney led off by getting hit by a pitch. Drake Levan bunted him over to second and then Owen Myers lined a single up the middle to drive him home. Myers then stole second on the next pitch. After that, he was able to score the second and final run of the game on a groundout to the third basemen when he rounded third after the play and took off for the plate sliding in just safely avoiding the tag. Kaelen Davis shot a double into the gap to follow it up then Juan Diego Beato-Amparo shot a single up the middle that head coach Micheal Craig put the stop sign up even though Davis had the two-out jump. That proved to be an important run that was held up as the Bluejays could’ve taken the lead.
The Panthers responded after Perry tied it up with five runs. Then in the fifth inning starting pitcher Dylan Hoepker hit a two-run homer over the left field fence to make it 9-2 and Creston didn’t look back after that. They eventually wound up scoring 13 runs and winning 13-2. Perry used a number of pitching arms and they just couldn’t find their rhythm.
Perry will look to put this game behind them Wednesday night where they go on the road to Clarke.
